About

Salem Macon Baptist Church in Notasulga, Alabama, has served as a lighthouse for Christ since its founding in 1840. Reverend Benjamin M. Moot, the church’s first pastor, laid the foundation for generations of faith by donating the land for the church, its cemetery, and the original Salem Macon School. For over 180 years, the church has remained a steadfast presence in the community, offering spiritual guidance, fellowship, and a place of belonging. Under the leadership of Pastor Jessie Franklin Hayes, Sr., Salem Macon continues to reflect God’s love and truth through its ministries and outreach. In 2015, the church celebrated its 175th anniversary, bringing together members, families, and friends to honor its rich legacy. Today, Salem Macon Baptist Church remains deeply rooted in its mission to glorify God and shine His light in the lives of all who enter its doors.
