Charles was born in Liberty City on September 1, 1945, one of Jesse and Flora Griggs’ seven children. Charles has attended SMBC for 81 years and was saved and baptized during a revival at age nine. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1971 and now serves as Chairman. Charles led the Royal Ambassadors, sung in the choir and men’s quartet, and baptized new members. He helped build our pastorium as a teen and later our church building as an adult. Charles currently serves on the Cemetery Committee. His mission is to help bring the lost to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 

 Jeffery was born in Scottsboro on December 23, 1967, to Arthur Hulen and Mary Charles Stewart Hatchett. He has attended SMBC since childhood and was baptized at a young age. Jeff was ordained as a Deacon in 2024. He has served in the church choir, on the Cemetery Committee, and now leads the Men’s Ministry. Jeff and his wife, Jennifer, raised two children—Kayla and Joshua—and enjoy helping guide their six grandchildren in church. Jeff’s mission is to lead others to eternity with Jesus Christ. 

 Joshua was born in Opelika on November 18, 1992, to Jeffery and Jennifer Hatchett. He has attended SMBC since childhood and was baptized during his teenage years. Joshua was ordained as a Deacon in 2026. He and his wife, Hannah, have four children: Jett, Olivia, Josie, and Jaxton. Joshua’s mission is to remain present with God and set an example for his children to follow in Christ.
